Echoing several international initiatives, a national strategy in Switzerland has led to the development of various tools to build up the next generation of clinical researchers.
Among them is the Clinical Research Core Competencies (CRCC) Framework.
The CRCC Framework is a reference for education, career development, and job descriptions for research professionals conducting clinical trials. It is largely inspired by the frame of reference developed by the dynamic Joint Task Force for Clinical Trial Competency (JTF), which brings together international representatives of all stakeholders in clinical research. Moreover, the framework has been used by several institutions and countries in order to define role descriptions and comprehensive training programmes as well as to improve the quality of trials and facilitate regulatory compliance (see examples). The JTF Framework has also been adopted by the Clinical Research Initiative for Global Health (CRIGH) – an initiative supporting international collaboration on clinical research – and is currently being translated into several languages.
