The WONCA EUROPE Conference theme of this year was “New Routes for General Practice and Family Medicine”. Four main areas were discussed and included: Innovation in primary care ; The new generation of family doctors ; Personalized and comprehensive care ; and Knowledge management. Results of the QUALICOPC trial in Luxembourg were presented at this conference.
Briefly, in this study, patients and general practitioners anonymously and separately completed questionnaires aiming at evaluating their experience and feeling towards General Practice in Luxembourg. Results presented at the conference highlighted the evolution of the general practitioners’ habits and points of view. Thus, comparing results from the QUALICOPC trial to a similar study performed in 1993, we observed an increased tendency to work in groups, paralleling a reduction of the working time and an increased job satisfaction. GPs are also constantly involved in health education, but are less implicated in pediatrics or gynecology.
Next November, Dr Aubart will also give a presentation during the “Semaine Médicale de Lorraine 2014” (between November 17th and November 22nd, 2014, in Nancy).
