Predi-COVID Field Work: The commitment of the research nurses of the Clinical and Epidemiological Investigation Center (CIEC) enabled a fast response in the execution of the Predi-COVID Study.

The study designed to help predicting the way the disease could evolve in a given individual. Under the lead and guidance of Dr. Huiart and Dr. Gantenbein, the CIEC research nurse team: Guilherme Marques, Sandie Boly and Victoria Lorentz, coordinated by Jean-Yves Ferrand, in valuable collaboration with Maura Minelli, Administrative Officer at CIEC has been crucial for the fast planning, implementing and execution of the study. The André Losch Fondation has substantially contributed to the financing of the project,

The nurse team has successfully established, coordinated, and performed all required procedures to plan home visits to COVID patients in order to collect biological samples, reducing risk factors for contamination, potentially caused by the management of the collected samples and organizing centralized shipments to the Integrated Biobank of Luxembourg (IBBL).

Furthermore, data quality was monitored and a thorough organization of the study conduct and progress in accordance with the protocol, the Good Clinical Practices and local applicable laws as well as regulations have been guaranteed.

In conclusion, the CIEC nurses provided excellent operational support whilst striving to ensure respect of patients’ rights, data privacy and thus helped to collect biological samples and generate high quality data that is essential for the success of the Predi-COVID-Study.
